Consultant Profile

David is on the Specialist Register as an Orthopaedic and Trauma Consultant. His clinical practice is exclusively upper limb, including shoulder, hand, wrist and elbow.

His NHS practice is based at Northampton General Hospital (NGH).

His private practice is based at the BMI Three Shires Hospital.

David graduated in medicine from Dundee University in 1987 and returned to Dundee to study for a MSc in Biomedical Engineering Science, graduating in 1993. He became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in the same year. (FRCS Ed).

In 1999 he gained the  orthopaedic specialist fellowship qualification FRCS (Tr & Orth).

His specialist orthopaedic training was on the North West ( Manchester) rotation follwed by an 18 months fellowship in upper limb and shoulder surgery at the world renown Wrightington Hospital for Joint Disease.

His hobbies include playing the guitar and motorsport, currently competing in the Paul Matty Sportscars Lotus Hillclimb Championship. He enjoys cycling to keep fit and in 2008 completed 950 miles Lands End to John 'O Groats in 8 days raising over 3000 for Northampton General Hospital Charitable Fund.

David is married to Fiona, also a consultant at NGH. They have a daughter who is a national standard competitive swimmer.

David will compete in his historic and newly restored Lotus 23B in the 2013 Paul Matty Sports Cars Lotus Hillclimb Championship. Competition dates include; April 27th Prescott, 4th-5th May Shelsley Walsh, an ectopic meeting at St Goueno, France 1st-2nd June, 7th June Anglesey, 13th July Loton Park, 21st July Curborough, 17th-18th August Shelsley Walsh, 8th September Loton Park and 21st September Harewood.
